22 relationship lessons never too late to learn

10:59:00 PM

Because we learn new things everyday. (Or, well, life keeps hammering it 'til we get it.)

  1. “I believe that when we put family first after God, all other relationships in our lives will improve.” (Victoria Osteen)
  2. Honor your parents. This is the first commandment with a promise. (Ephesians 6:1-3)
  3. “Time is the your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money but you can’t make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back. Your time is your life.” (Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren)
  4. Trust and trustworthiness.
  5. "Everybody has within them the potential for tremendous good and tremendous evil. And the part that will come alive is the part that you speak to." (Steven Furtick)
  6. Don’t get tired of doing what is good.
  7. Go the extra mile. It's worth it.
  8. But it’s also okay to say no.
  9. Grow.
  10. Circumstances does not change right and wrong. Right is always right. Wrong is always wrong. (Pastor David Sumrall)
  11. Also, the big picture > circumstances.
  12. “Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent.” (Psalm 4:4) Winston Churchill agrees: "A man is about as big as the things that make him angry."
  13. “And in the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a forest on fire.” (James 3:5)
  14. Listen. Like, really listen.
  15. Be guided by principles, not emotions, when making decisions.
  16. You may not always get your answer (at least not immediately) but it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask. When doubts arise, when you don’t understand – ask. Someday, if not now, you will get your answer. Be patient, but ask.
  17. So you made a mistake. So you hurt someone. Get back in there. Maybe you can't fix it, maybe it will never be what it was again, but with the best you can, make it right.
  18. There are no shortcuts to maturity.
  19. What gives things of your life permanence? Motives. It’s why you do it, not what you do. (Pastor David Sumrall)
  20. The first person you lead is you.
  21. And please, know this: you were already made complete when you became worth dying for. No one else can fill that void.
  22. And lastly, love is always enough. Always.
