2015: Favorite Instagrams | Awesome in Manila

I wasn't really planning on putting together year-enders but as contrived as they are, lists are a whole lotta fun to make. Last time, I shared my top favorite apps this year and today, I thought it would be nice to look back at some of the memories shared through Instagram.

In no particular order:

1. The one I felt most hipster posting.

Confession: I bought the easel from Daiso mainly for this Instagram. I had pictured it in my head and I knew (even before I read it) that Hemingway's The Old Man and The Sea would be the art I'd find most worthy to sit on it. Best book I've read this year!

And this quote from the book sums up how I feel about it:

"He always thought of the sea as 'la mar' which is what people call her in Spanish when they love her. Sometimes those who love her say bad things of her but they are always said as though she were a woman. Some of the younger fishermen, those who used buoys as floats for their lines and had motorboats, bought when the shark livers had brought much money, spoke of her as 'el mar' which is masculine. They spoke of her as a contestant or a place or even an enemy. But the old man always thought of her as feminine and as something that gave or withheld great favours, and if she did wild or wicked things it was because she could not help them. The moon affects her as it does a woman, he thought."

2. The one that made it seem I'm more in control of my life than I actually am.

Operative word: 'seem'. In my defense, I really did do some yoga after I took this.

3. The one "awww God, You made this!" view that was too good not to share.

From the Quzeon trip that almost didn't happen! It had been an extra stressful week at the office and after several threats to it actually pushing through, coming to this view was the red cherry on top of a strawberry sundae on a very hot day!

4.The one that made me feel small.

I'm already missing Mindanao!

5. The one that was proudly #nofilter.

It's not every day we get to walk out the building before it's dark. The very few times I get to, I can't help but stop and wonder at the way the colors of the sunset play with the concrete jungle.

6. The one from the 24-hour shoot.

Props to Manila Man PH for making the most of what we little we had at the time. Having been refocused to social media, I don't think I'll be working on shoots in the near future and it's nice to have a bit of reminder on Instagram.

7. The one that still sets my insides on fire.

I mean...just...GAH, LOOK AT THAT. Sometimes I'm not sure myself if it's a photograph or a painting. Either way, God is the best artist.

8. The one that was worth waiting for...

...though it wasn't the best I've seen in my life. You may not always get the best of everything but more often than not, you get just what you need.

9. The one that made me love my city more.

Can you believe that view? I live in the middle of that, walk in and around it every single day. This is my city. This is my home.

If you're not following me on Instagram yet, well get on it now! I post random and useless snaps most of the time, but I try to spread love whenever I can.

If I'm not following you yet, leave your Instagram in the comments and I'll check it out as soon as possible.
